We are pleased to announced that Guadalupe Maravilla has been invited to the 61st International Art Exhibition of La Biennale di Venezia by Koyo Kouoh. The exhibition, In Minor Keys, stands as a collective score composed together with artists who have built universes of imagination. Artists who work at the boundaries of form, and whose practices can be thought of as intricate melodies to be heard both collectively and on their own terms. These are artists whose practices seamlessly bleed into society.
Combining sculpture, painting, performative acts, Maravilla is known for his autobiographical practice, referencing his unaccompanied migration to the United States due to the Salvadoran Civil War. Across all media, Maravilla explores how the systemic abuse of immigrants physically manifests in the body, reflecting on his own battle with cancer.
The exhibition will be on view from May 9 through November 22, 2026 at the Giardini, the Arsenale, and various venues in Venice.
